Experience The Beauty of Lakeway Real Estate

The city of Lakeway, Texas chose its name well to highlight the main attraction to living in this quiet city full of natural beauty, as it’s positioned on the shores of the most popular lake in the Texas Hill Country, Lake Travis.   This affluent small town has been well-settled for a long time, and has managed to maintain its population of under 9,000 people throughout the population boom in the rest of central Texas. For those raising families or retirees looking to settle where the small town pace of life doesn’t bend much to the changes of time, Lakeway is your best choice in small Texas towns.

Residents of Lakeway take a great deal of pride in their almost-woodsy lifestyle and history, protected by the hills between them and the city of Austin.  Gardening is a popular hobby, as is watching the stream of wildlife that will wander behind homes in the area.  Don’t worry about the nuisance of deer too much, though.  The city takes great pains to make sure the deer are under enough control that they can be enjoyed without causing problems.  Despite the country feel of home life in much of Lakeway, the town itself offers all the amenities of modern life, from the state-of-the-art schools to neatly organized and diverse shops and offices in the area.

The recreational opportunities in the Hill Country are seemingly endless, particularly if you enjoy outdoor activities.  Lake Travis itself offers swimming, fishing, watersports, and boating.  The surrounding areas are also peppered with canyons, rivers, lakes, climbing rocks, and hiking trails to explore.  The characteristic Lakeway intertwining of nature and civilization is perhaps best represented in the variety of city parks, including the extensive Hamilton and Smith greenbelts. There’s plenty of less strenuous ways to enjoy the landscape, as well.  Many restaurants in the area provide lakeside dining, most notably the Oasis, which sits on a cliff side so patrons can appreciate the spectacular sunsets nightly.

The town offers plenty of recreation for children and teenagers, with plenty of city-sponsored activities (including a middle school battle of the bands), as well as a popular skate park and swim center for more free-form but safe entertainment.  Between the various activities for young people and the excellent school system, Lakeway is an ideal place to raise a family.

Many residents in Lakeway commute to Austin and Round Rock, many taking advantage of the rapidly growing tech industry in the area.  The proximity to Austin gives Lakeway residents an opportunity to enjoy the various entertainment possibilities in Austin, as well.  The drive between the two cities isn’t all that long and it is one of the more beautiful hilly drives in the area.
